Sanctuary in The Pocket is a beautiful
property situated on 5 acres in the Byron
Bay Hinterland, 10 minutes north of
Mullumbimby, 10 minutes west of
Brunswick Heads and 20 minutes from the
iconic beaches Byron Bay.

The Gardens were lovingly created 25
years ago by a horticulturist and consist of
open lawns, established exotic gardens
and pockets of rainforest, with a beautiful
natural creek, spring fed from the hills
behind.
​
In 2013, the previous owners Jonathon
and Suzie started reinvigorating the
gardens and renovating the buildings,
creating a beautiful space for our guests
to enjoy the peacefulness of the property
and allowing them to relax in the stunning
surroundings of the magnificent gardens.
The current owners Lisa and Mike Galea
just recently took over the property in mid
2022. Lisa has added her designer touch
to all the spaces, while Mike has
continued to nurture the gardens, adding
vege patches, fruit trees, a space for his
bees (and their delectable honey), and is
currently designing a bush-tucker walk
though the garden. Both Lisa and Mike
are passionate about making the retreat
an eco friendly haven.
Sanctuary in the Pocket is the ideal space
to use as a place to renew yourself, or as a
springboard to explore all that Byron Shire
has to offer.

We provide accommodation for up to 12
people, and thus are perfectly set up to
hold family events, and retreats.
We can organise catering and cooking
courses, wood fire pizza evenings,
authentic Italian dinners (minimum 8
people) and massage and beauty
treatments onsite.
