FOOD & DRINK
THE TASTE OF BYRON BAY
WHAT THE LAND HAS TO OFFER
The local area, provides the most amazing produce, for the abundant cafes and restaurants in the Byron Bay Hinterland.
The following is a list of the best places, that we or our guests have recommended.
MULLIMBIMBY - SCRATCH PATISSERIE
The best patisserie around, providing the Farmers Markets at New Brighton (Tuesday) and Mullumbimby (Friday).
Duck in for lush Almond Croissants, beautiful artisan bread, pork and fennel sausage rolls (yum), a local secret.
Great Fish and Chips and Burgers, this is really a take away place but some seating outside, or even better, go across the road and picnic by the river.
In my opinion, the best fish or calamari and chips around
MULLIMBIMBY PUNCH AND DAISY
Best Food and Coffee Cafe in Mullumbimby, really interesting Breakfast and Lunch Menu, I always struggle to get past the brekky special (Toasted Croissant, with Chilli Aioli, poached egg and the yummiest bacon)
BRUNSWICK HEADS LELLO'S PASTA BAR
Lello's Pasta Bar is a family owned and operated Italian restaurant that specialises in home made pasta using organic flour and organic free range pastured eggs
One of our favorite places to eat in Brunswick Heads, consistently great
MULLIMBIMBY -IZAKAYA YU
Great Japanese - a local favourate of ours, sit at the bar and watch them make your selection of Sushi roll - Mullumbimby Roll is our favourate, Tempura is lovely, Sashimi is great, extensive menu, sumptuous food.
Set in a lovely old cottage in the charming village of Newrybar, Harvest is one of a number of hatted restaurants in the area.
Exquisite food, whether Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner.
Check out their website as they have some awesome menus on a weekly basis exploring Australia’s under-utilised native ingredients,of foraged food from the local environment.
They also have a separate takeaway place, so also good to drop into on the way to the beautiful beaches of Broken Head
Take a drive out into the beautiful hinterland, maybe a visit to Crystal Castle or Minyon Falls in the morning and end up here for lunch.
Simply beautiful food, Doma used to be a well kept secret, now Hatted, it is extremely popular. (Recently saw a review in the NY Times !) If you can try a mid week day when it may be less busy.
Based in a funky cottage next to the local post office Doma is a unique space with a lovely garden setting. Breakfast and lunch only.
BRUNSWICK HEADS STICKY FINGERS
Long time favourate local Pizza restaurant. Casual dining, great pizzas , try Pigs in Space (My favourate -prosciutto, mushrooms, wild rocket and aioli) Mick Jagger or Prawn Star - Great street ambience
The Farm is great collection of top quality local businesses all working on an 80 acre farming template. Hugely popular tourist attraction and well worth a visit, to eat, have a coffee, to buy some beautiful produce or to wander around and learn on The Farm
