ESSENTIAL TRAVEL DURING COVID-19

What counts as essential travel during the Covid-19 lock down?

Essential travel does not include visits to second homes, camp sites, caravan parks or similar places, either for isolation or holidays.

Government guidance around the most recent lock down measures suggests for now you should stay at home as much as possible, and keep approx 2m apart from anyone outside of your household.

The law says people should not leave their house without a “reasonable excuse”.

You can however go shopping for basic necessities, such as food and medicine, as infrequently as possible. You can also leave the house to care for elderly or vulnerable people, such as dropping shopping or medication at their door, as long as you have no coronavirus symptoms.

There are a few exceptions around why you can leave the house, but simply put, if you don’t have a reasonable excuse to leave the house, it is illegal to do so.

In saying this and knowing it is important to STAY HOME - when travel restrictions are lifted, we know Australians will want to travel local!
