I don't know about you, but it appears to me, that over the last twenty or thirty years, charities have become big business. There are so many that we appear to have lost our connection to the subject, we feel increasingly sales pressured to commit to giving on a monthly basis, by people who have no more connection with the charity, than "doing there job" or "hitting sales figures" .
In 2007, a group of small-business owners had an idea. They asked, “What would happen if we all gave back by doing the things we do every day?” It was a question that inspired them.
Three years and a great undertaking later, they were able to design the systems and
processes necessary to make it work, and their dream is now a reality. The initiative was
called Buy 1 Give 1, backed by the idea that companies would make a giving impact
with each designated business transaction. Today, the B1G1 initiative has more than 2,600
businesses from around the world—each making significant impacts every day.
B1G1 is a social enterprise and non-profit organization with a mission to create a world full of
giving. Unlike conventional giving models every business transaction can impact lives for as little as one cent.
For me, this idea resonated beautifully, what an amazing idea, that every time I provide a service, part of the payment for that service goes to an initiative that I or my customers can identify with.
So, that day, Sanctuary In The Pocket joined B1G1, and from that day, dear guests, we are contributing to B1G1 from each guests stay to many great initiatives.
